Fans of Minecraft have not been given a lot of information about update 1.20 outside the reveal of the three mobs in the Mob Vote. Each of the mobs could also bring in other small changes and additions; for example, if the Sniffer wins the Mob Vote, Minecraft’s update 1.20 will also likely feature new plants for players to farm. The three mobs all bring something different that could greatly benefit the players and could change the ways they have performed certain activities in the past.

The Sniffer

Sniffers are turtle-like mobs that will seek out seeds for the player, giving players a boost to farming, especially in the early game. Their eggs are laid underwater, which means that players will need to dive into the depths in search of these useful mobs. However, once they do acquire them, they will be able to use the Sniffer’s feature of seeking out seeds to quickly gain a lot of Minecraft’s crops, and maybe even discover a couple of new ones.

The Sniffer could help soften the early-game grind of farming by giving players access to a lot more crops right from the start. They will be especially useful for gamers seeking out plants like carrots, which are usually harder to come by unless the player finds a village. Further, the potential of new crops being added to the game could also give players the ability to tame other mobs like goats or unlock a new Minecraft food source.

The Rascal

The Rascal is a mob that lives underground, especially in mine shafts, and loves hiding from the player. The addition of the Rascal will give players something new to do while underground apart from just mining and could even help the player by giving them useful items. The Rascal will play hide and seek with the player, and when it is found three times, it will reward the player with an item, which could be something useful like an iron pickaxe that can help players stay in the mines longer.

While the items that the Rascal can drop has not been revealed yet, it is likely that they will mostly be tools that player can use. Pickaxes, swords, armor, and even shields could all be dropped by this mob if the player is able to find it three times. This makes the Rascal an especially useful mob for players in the early game who are still searching for resources and exploring the depths of their world for the first time.

Tuff Golem

Minecraft already has an Iron Golem that helps defend villagers from hostile mobs and is often used to create iron farms. However, the Tuff Golem is a bit different as it gives players access to a mob that will pick up particular dropped items. While this is not a particularly useful feature for most players, it could help improve the decor around a player’s base and be used to easily move items throughout the base.

The Tuff Golem, much like the Iron Golem, can be created by the player, allowing them to have nearly a limitless amount of this particular mob. Once the mob picks up an item, it will turn into a statue and display the item it has acquired. This could be a great way for players to understand Minecraft storage systems without using item frames, and can also be a way for them to show off all of their expensive loot and items to their friends.

Minecraft Live 2022 is set to give players a difficult choice between three mobs that could greatly benefit the player. With the Sniffer’s ability to make farming more efficient, the Rascal’s tendency to give players more time in the mines, and the Tuff Golem’s ability to help simplify storage systems while decorating a base, each of the mobs brings something unique to the table. Fans could also get more information about these three mobs during Minecraft Live, which could help them decide who to vote for.

Minecraft is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
