Alongside the gameplay updates and improvements, four obscure new trophies / achievements were also added for players to unlock. This guide will help players unlock the ‘It Spreads’ trophy / achievement, which requires them to kill a mob next to a sculk catalyst.

What Is A Sculk Catalyst?
Sculk catalysts are one of many strange new blocks found in the Deep Dark cave biome. As one of the more harmless of the bunch, they effectively act as sculk block spreaders, and activate when something dies near them. Activated catalysts will:
Spawn sculk blocks around the spot where the death occurred Spawn some sculk veins around the main sculk blocks Rarely, spawn a sculk sensor Very rarely, spawn a sculk shrieker
As regular sculk blocks give players a small amount of experience points when mined, players may wish to grab the catalyst to create their own XP farms. While they can be destroyed easily, sculk catalysts will only drop a block to collect if they were broken with a pickaxe enchanted with silk touch. The best tool to quickly destroy sculk blocks with is, strangely, a hoe.
Killing a Mob Next To a Catalyst
While it is technically possible to kill a Warden (one of the few mobs that spawn in the Deep Dark biome) next to a sculk catalyst, players will no doubt want to get this trophy / achievement quickly and without the risk of dying that Wardens pose. The following strategies are recommended:
Lure a slow creature like a zombie down into the Deep Dark near a sculk catalyst. Catch a fish in a bucket, then empty the bucket in a hole near the catalyst before killing the fish. Attach a lead to a passive mob and bring them near the catalyst. Kill a fellow player that has at least one level’s worth of XP, Tame an animal and then kill it near the catalyst. It may be sadistic, but it will work!
