For those that may have missed it, 2020 saw the coming of Minecraft’s massive Nether update. This took the once drab landscape of the Nether and filled it to the brim with strange forms of life, new areas and biomes, and more. Alongside this update, the Pigstep music disc was added into the game.

Pigstep cannot be found by letting a Skeleton kill a creeper, instead it can only be looted from chests. That said, while some other music discs can also be found in chests of various structures, the Pigstep music disc only spawns in Bastion Remnant chests. These are the large structures in the Nether that Piglins call home, but they are well guarded. Inside of the Bastion Remnant, players will come across Piglin Brutes, variants of the Piglin enemy that will attack the player on sight. This can make traversing these areas much more difficult, as these Piglins will still attack the player even if they are wearing gold armor.

What’s more, attacking a Piglin Brute will cause regular nearby Piglins to become hostile to the player as well, and things tend to spiral out of control quickly in Bastion Remnants. They also have the highest melee damage of any mob in the game, dealing 19 damage to unarmored players on hard mode. Players will need to deal with these enemies if they want to explore Bastion Remnants to find chests with the Pigstep music disc inside. The chance of finding a Pigstep music discs in one of these chests is only 5.6%, meaning players will have to search an average of 17 to 18 chests to get it.

Odds are players won’t find a Pigstep music disc in the first Bastion Remnant they search, so they’ll have to continue to explore the Nether to find more. In order to make this process easier, it helps to stock up on potions of Fire Resistance, wear some nice armor (diamond or Netherite preferred), and have at least once piece of gold armor equipped.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
