The recent Minecraft Live 2020 show provided details on what’s coming to the Minecraft universe. The addition of both pistons and sticky pistons was announced through the show and was later posted through the company’s official Twitter. As longtime players know, pistons are blocks that can push other blocks, players, and mobs. It should make for an interesting addition to augmented reality.

One of the most exciting parts of the show was the community vote, which allows players to decide on new content. This year, the vote was for a new Minecraft mob. They had three choices: a Moobloom, the Icologer, or a Glow Squid. The community voted, and the results show that the Glow Squid will be added to Minecraft. There’s no timeline yet on when exactly it will be added, but it may be part of the newly announced Caves & Cliffs update.
The aforementioned update is all about new underground experiences for players. There will be new biomes to explore and new blocks, such as Sculk blocks that allow for wireless Redstone. Sculk blocks operate based on movement and sound vibrations, emitting a redstone signal. This opens doors, so to speak, for all kinds of wireless creations.
Overall, it’s been a big week for Minecraft fans, especially if they are also Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans. Earlier this week, Nintendo announced Minecraft’s Steve is the next fighter in the game. The character will have four different skins and his move set includes a lot of the typical Minecraft standards, including placing blocks and crafting.
Minecraft Earth is out now on mobile.
