Minecraft Dungeons can now run at 4K resolution and 120 FPS on Xbox Series X, or 1440p and 60 FPS on Xbox Series S, according to the Version 1.8.0.0 patch notes released on Minecraft’s website. Players should expect the numbers to vary in practice, however, especially while playing four player local co-op.

Also included in the free update for all players today are 10 new achievements to unlock, the ability to return to a checkpoint if stuck, a special cape and pet to celebrate the game reaching 10 million players, and 13 new Minecraft Dungeons-specific enhancements that can be applied to melee weapons, ranged weapons, or armor. Players can also take part in new end-game missions called Ancient Hunts set in the Nether, which potentially offer Gilded Gear - described as “some of the most powerful items in the game.”
Outside of those new features included in the free update, as well as content exclusive to the Flames of the Nether DLC, the patch notes also outline a number of balance changes and bug fixes. It ends by detailing other known issues which have yet to be addressed, such as multiple Ancient Mobs spawning at once, objective markers not working in the Nether Fortress Mission, and inert environmental fire in the Nether. Between content updates, ongoing bug fixes, and special events like Minecraft Dungeons’ Chills and Thrills event last December, it’s clear Mojang Studios will be supporting its latest venture for some time to come.
Minecraft Dungeons is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
