Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Thomas Rubinson this week called Bradley’s final request for leniency “breathtaking, frankly, in how callous (it was),” and ordered him to begin serving a 32-month jail sentence handed down in June 2013, Sports Illustrated reported.

Bradley had remained free on appeal so he could care for the two young sons he had with Monique Bradley, who died of cirrhosis of the liver in September 2013.

At a hearing Monday, Bradley blamed his late wife for the pair’s domestic troubles and insisted he is not a violent person, despite the jury’s finding to the contrary.

“Ray Rice slaps the hell out of a woman, you know. I didn’t do that," Bradley said, according to the court transcript. “I’m not Ray Rice. Greg Hardy beats up a woman. I didn’t do that. You know what I’m saying? It’s obvious to everyone this is a complete farce. This woman is an alcoholic. She drank every single day.

“The woman — that’s all she did was drink. You know what I’m saying? If she cared about her children she wouldn’t have done this. … I have an airtight prenuptial agreement. She was not going to get any money in the event of a divorce. Her only hope was to portray (herself as) a victim of domestic violence.”

Rubinson noted that the jury already had spoken in regard to Bradley’s guilt, though, and remanded him to the county jail. Bradley’s attorney said he would appeal and asked that the 37-year-old remain free pending a hearing, but Rubinson denied that motion.
