Sousa improved his game in the second set by reducing the number of unforced errors and hitting some forehand winners of his own. He managed to hold all his serves and took Raonic to deuce at 5-4. He could not capitalise on the opportunity and conceded the game.

The set went to tie break as both players held their serves. Sousa could win just one point after 3-3 in the tie break as he committed a few unforced errors which helped Roanic to win the set and the match.

The Canadian would be happy with a straight sets win but will look to improve on his game to avoid going to tie breaks. He is set to meet Tommy Robredo in the third round

In other news, both Nadal and Federer have started kicked off their clay court seasons with ease with straight sets wins. Federer eased passed Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 6-1 while Nadal had the same scoreline against Lucas Pouille
