Regardless of that fact, both said the right things when asked how they would handled Sunday's Wizards-Nuggets matchup in Denver.

Shaw claimed to be happy for Miller, who gained solid footing on a playoff team after being moved to the Wizards in Feb. 20 trade deadline deal. And Miller insisted that it would not be awkward to return to Denver. He experienced a similar return when he was traded to Philadelphia from Denver in 2006.

“I went through it before when I went back as a 76er, so I don’t think it’ll really be that emotional,” Miller said, according to The Washington Post .

Still, this return is a bit difference because of the way in which Miller parted with the team.

Back on Jan. 1, Miller registered the first DNP of his career and he was none too pleased about it. He let Shaw know that with an impassioned display and colorful words. From there, Miller spent several weeks away from the Nuggets until he was finally moved to the Wizards.

No words have been exchanged since Miller and Shaw went back and forth on that day, but Shaw believes the trade ended any lingering tension.

“I feel that we have closure,” Shaw said. “It’s unfortunate situation that happened and neither one of us wanted that to happen but I don’t have a problem with him. I have the utmost respect for him, and still do, as a player.

"Once again, it was unfortunate, but he’s moved on and is in a better place in terms of his situation, his team is going to be in the playoffs. He’s going to be able to contribute to that. I’m happy for him to be in that situation, but for us we’ve gotten to develop and give some of the guys behind him a little more time. That’s the positive that I take out of that situation.”
