During her performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, Cyrus danced on a pole that was rolled on stage while singing her hit “Party in the U.S.A.”
Her dance caused outrage, with many calling her performance inappropriate for her young audience. Regardless of the controversy, Cyrus, who was 16 at the time, received support from many fans and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Many hard-core Cyrus fans remember when she and her friend Mandy mocked fellow Disney cast members Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez in a video uploaded to YouTube in 2008.
Cyrus claimed the video was meant to be funny and not an attack on Lovato and Gomez, with the alleged feud seemingly coming to an end in 2009 when Lovato attended the Hannah Montana movie premiere.

Shortly after the speculation of her feud with Gomez and Lovato fizzled out, Cyrus posted a choreographed video announcing she was officially quitting Twitter.

Private Sweet 16 at Disneyland
With many referring to her as the Queen of the Disney Channel, it is no surprise that Disneyland was shut down for an exclusive Sweet 16 bash on her behalf.
Many celebrities were invited to the birthday bash and 5,000 fans could attend the party by purchasing $250 tickets.
Cyrus performed a four-song set during the celebration and received 16 large inflatable candles and a fireworks display above the castle.
VMAs Twerking Incident
Following Cyrus’ push to leave the Disney Channel behind, she chopped her hair in 2012 and dyed it blonde before releasing new music and a scandalous new persona.
In 2013, Cyrus performed alongside Robin Thicke at the VMA’s while wearing a tan two-piece, space buns and a foam middle finger.
Fans remember Cyrus twerking on Thicke while she performed “We Can’t Stop” and suggestively moved the foam finger on her body.

At just 20, Cyrus earned a Billboard No. 1 hit for three consecutive weeks with her 2013 single “Wrecking Ball.”
The song came shortly after a temporary split from Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, with whom she co-starred in “The Climb” in 2009.
The music video, which features Cyrus swinging on a metal wrecking ball wearing nothing but a pair of boots, has received more than 1.1 billion views and 1 million comments since its release in September of 2013.

While Cyrus was hosting the 2019 MTV Music Awards, she got into a public argument with Nicki Minaj after Minaj won the award for Best Hip Hop Video.
While accepting her award, Minaj called out Cyrus for speaking about her in an interview with the New York Times regarding Minaj’s treatment of Taylor Swift on Twitter.
Liam Hemsworth Divorce Performance
Cyrus stunned viewers during her performance of “Slide Away” at the 2019 VMAs. The award show marked her first time performing since Hemsworth, whom she married in December of 2018, served her with divorce papers.
During the emotional performance, she sang about her teen romance with Hemsworth while wearing a sleek black dress and blonde slicked-back hair.
