Who Created Miles Morales?
The idea of Miles Morales was first discussed a few months before the November 2008 election of Barack Obama as President of the United States. The actual character was created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli. In interviews, Bendis explained that Morales’s first appearance was heavily influenced by Donald Glover’s appearance in Spider-Man pajamas in an episode of the TV comedy series, Community. Pichelli designed Spider-Man’s new costume with Miles Morales donning a mostly black outfit with red webbing and a red spider logo to make him stand out from the Peter Parker style Spider-Man.

He also has unique abilities that Peter Parker doesn’t possess. Alongside the typical Spider-Man abilities like superhuman strength and speed, the ability to crawl on walls and the Spidey-Sense power, Miles Morales can use his web powers to camouflage himself, becoming invisible. He can also regenerate health faster and he has Bio-Electrokinesis powers so he can control the natural electricity of his body and turn it into a weapon to attack enemies.
