Just before the start of the final Mayweather-Pacquiao news conference Thursday, Tyson kept the same tone after being told he could move to the front row. According to USA Today, Tyson refused, looked at Mayweather and said, “I try to stay as far away from dirt as possible.”

A former Tyson assistant, Darryl Francis, told USA Today that Tyson’s distaste for Mayweather stems from a September 2001 police raid on Tyson’s house that he believes was caused by Mayweather.

Police raided Tyson’s Las Vegas home after a woman accused Tyson of sexually assaulting her on two different occasions. When discussing the incident in his book, Tyson said a “record producer friend” told him the alleged victim had also been dating “another prominent boxer.”

Tyson said he can’t prove it was Mayweather who called for the raid, but he isn’t ready to sweep the 14-year-old ordeal under the rug.

“I’m good with it now,” Tyson said. “You can forgive, but you have to remember.”
