The former heavyweight boxing champion has been accused of stealing an ice cream bar from a Ben & Jerry’s stand while attending the U.S. Open in New York this week.

According to the New York Post, Tyson, who was with his daughter at the time, snatched the snack from a kiosk at Arthur Ashe Stadium without paying as he made his way to the club level area prior to Novak Djokovic’s first-round match against Jerzy Janowicz.

“I was like, ‘Are you serious? Am I imagining this?’ (Tyson) was like, ‘I feel like having an ice cream’ and he just took it,” one worker told the Post. “What are you going to do, fight him? He’s Mike Tyson.”

As if it were his own freezer at home, the 50-year-old retired boxer lifted the lid of the stand, took out a $5.50 “Half Baked” ice cream bar, and walked off. But Tyson’s publicist, Joann Mignano, offered an explanation.

“There was a misunderstanding,” Mignano said. “Mike got the ice cream and was going to have the host pay for it as he was running around with his family. He was being pulled in a lot of directions as his daughter, Milan, is a rising tennis star and huge fan of the sport. … His host, [USTA national manager] David Slade, got the money from Mike and has made sure the bill has been taken care of.”

Eventually, someone from Tyson’s camp returned to the kiosk to pay for the ice cream bar.
