According to ESPN, Tuesday’s interview will be the second time the team has talked recently to the former Super Bowl-winning head coach. The Dolphins previously met with him Dec. 22. The fact they have scheduled a second interview clearly means they’re serious about Shanahan.
Also interviewing for the job, per reports, are Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin (Tuesday) and Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase (Thursday).
Shanahan has a career record of 178-138 (including playoffs) in 20 seasons coaching the Raiders (1988-89), Broncos (1995-2008) and Redskins (2010-13). In 1997 and ‘98, he led the Broncos to wins in Super Bowls 32 and 33.
His most recent stint came with the Redskins in the 2013 season, when he was 3-13.
