Hamilton’s substance-abuse relapse has caused tension between the player and management. He’s currently in Houston rehabbing from a right shoulder surgery. The Angels will also be in Houston as they face the Astros on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They’ll have a day off Thursday.

“We’ll be there,” Scioscia said Monday. “Hopefully we can connect with him and see where he is.”

Scioscia added the situation is getting frustrating due to the lack of communication.

“It just seems like as you try to get more clarity, it seems like it’s getting foggier and foggier,” Scioscia said. “So we’ll see where this is and where this leads and just where Josh is. But first and foremost, we hope Josh is getting the help and support that he needs.”

Hamilton avoided suspension after an arbitrator ruled his relapse was not a violation of his treatment under MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The Angels reacted strongly with president John Carpino saying the ruling “defies logic.”

Scioscia wasn’t sure if any coaches or players would join him in the meeting.
