With 7.9 seconds left in Sunday’s game between the Mavs and Nuggets, Dallas forward Chandler Parsons took the ball on the sideline near the Denver bench. The Mavs needed to execute a simple plan: inbound the ball, get fouled and hit both free throws to essentially travel back to Texas with a win. Except it wasn’t that simple.

Parsons couldn’t find an open teammate, so he attempted to fire the ball off Gary Harris to save the possession. Unfortunately for the Mavs, the ball went through Harris’ legs, and then a little “Rocky Mountain Magic” happened.

 

 

Yes, Emmanuel Mudiay made a great play. Yes, Kenneth Faried threw down the dunk to tie it up. But how about that defense by Malone?

The Nuggets prevailed in overtime, 116-114, as Faried led the way with 25 points and 20 rebounds.

But let us never forget expert inbound defender Mike Malone helped push this game past regulation.
