“That’s it,” Holmgren told KJR 950 AM host Mitch Levy. “I came to a decision, not just as an individual, but as a family”

Holmgren, 66, still had an itch to get back into coaching, however. He mentioned on the radio show he wanted to coach the 49ers, but there was not a mutual interest.

“There were a couple opportunities that came my way … I declined those,” Holmgren said. “I thought I would be interested in going to San Francisco, to be honest. But then, clearly, they’re not interested in me, and it kind of came to me, and I said, Look, my life is good, I’m enjoying what I’m doing, let’s put this all to rest.”

The San Francisco Chronicle has reported the Raiders were one team that showed interest.

Holmgren has a 161-111 all-time coaching record. He was a team president for the Browns from 2010-2012.

He hasn’t been a head coach since 2008 with Seattle.
