Fisher, 35, could have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but will now make $4.8 million next season and $4 million in 2016-17 with the Predators.

“Mike Fisher is a player and person anyone would want in their organization,” general manager David Poile said in a release. “He is a smart, two-way player who contributes on special teams and is solid in the faceoff circle, as well as a member of our leadership group, a respected voice in the dressing room and an integral part of the Nashville community.”
Fisher had 19 goals and 20 assists in 59 regular-season games for the Predators in 2014-15. He spent 11 seasons with the Senators before being traded to the Predators in February 2011.
Fisher is married to country music singer Carrie Underwood, so staying in Nashville makes sense.
