During ESPN’s NFL Monday Night Countdown, an odd noise — one often associated with flatulence — interrupted Cris Carter during his prediction of the Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and Giants. Mike Ditka, the man sitting to Carter’s left, smiled coyly, a noncommittal acceptance that he both smelt it and dealt it.

It’s a ridiculous topic. Just look at the headline. But its one that people wanted to read about. After all, it was one of the trending topics on Facebook’s homepage for over 24 hours early in the week.
And although Ditka is more than likely the perpetrator of the Monday Night Fart, he refuses to admit it.
“It wasn’t me,” Ditka said to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Believe me, I’m to the point in my life where it doesn’t matter. One day I’ll be happy if I can leave a fart. Right now, it wasn’t me. I don’t care what they think. They can think anything they want.”
Identifying a farter is one of the first skills you develop as a human It’s a vital part of adolescence. We’ve all farted and we’ve all denied it. But those around us know that it was us, whether we want to admit it.
Sorry, coach. We’re not buying it.
