Cabrera was batting in the seventh inning when he appeared to wince during a swing and miss. He drove in a run two pitches later on a single to right but was grimacing as he ran to first base.
When he eventually reached third, Cabrera headed to the dugout with the bases loaded. He was met by the Tigers’ athletic trainer but was able to leave the game on his own. Andrew Romine replaced Cabrera and walked in the eighth inning with the bases loaded to give Detroit an 8-2 lead.
