Cabrera injured a calf muscle July 3 running from first base on a hit-and-run play against the Blue Jays at Comerica Park.

Cabrera was having another strong season before the injury. He was leading the American League with a .350 average, to go with a .456 on-base percentage, a .578 slugging percentage. He also had 15 homers and 54 RBIs.
The Tigers (54-59), who sit 5 1/2 games behind the Angels in the race for the second AL wild card, have gone 13-20 since Cabrera’s injury.
