Tate is the current UFC women’s bantamweight champion but has lost to Rousey twice. While no one knows when — or even if — Rousey will return to the octagon, Tate is giving her plenty of motivation.

Appearing this week in This SiriusXM (via MMA Fighting), Tate told hosts RJ Clifford and Steve Cofield, “I think Ronda is somewhat emotionally unstable and I think that’s been characteristic for a long time. Doesn’t mean she fights any worse for it. I’m not knocking her as an athlete, but emotionally she’s just got some things that are a little bit strange and I think that that was one of them.”

Tate is referring to Rousey allegedly dressing down UFC strawweight (and “Dancing with the Stars” runner-up) Paige Vanzant for congratulating Holly Holm for knocking Rousey out.

While we’re sensitive to the fact that Rousey said she had suicidal thoughts after losing to Holm, she is not a nice person, Tate says.

“I feel like you can tell a lot about a person who, if they’re nice to people that they don’t have to be nice to or if they’re not nice to people that they don’t have to be nice to, and I feel like things that sometimes people don’t see on the massive media outlets is the way Ronda is behind scenes,” Tate said.

“This is just one example. This is a big reason why Ronda and I don’t get along.”

Later in the radio show, Tate and the hosts discussed Conor McGregor. Clifford and Cofield understand why the UFC would give the Irishman preferential treatment — he’s made the sport loads of money.

“When you say, ‘someone deserves a break or special treatment,’ I don’t disagree with that,” Tate said. “My point is he already gets that. A lot. They wanted to fly him (to Las Vegas) three months before UFC 200 in a private jet where he could have up to 20 people come with him. No one else gets that. Nobody else. That is preferential treatment. That is special.”

McGregor, of course, was scratched from UFC 200 because he refused to put his training in Iceland on hold to fly to Vegas for promotional reasons.

Tate is on that July 9 card in Las Vegas, where she’s slated to defend her title against Amanda Nunes.
