Elneny was stretchered off after suffering an ankle injury, coming off a challenge with West Ham United skipper Mark Noble, in their 4-1 win at the Emirates on Sunday.
After the game, Arsene Wenger disclosed that the Egypt international would need an x-ray examination and might not be available for the first leg of their Uefa Europa League semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid.
“It’s an ankle problem that is very painful,” Wenger told club website.
“Overall I believe that we have to wait until the X-ray to know a little more about it. But Thursday will be too soon for him.”
In reaction to the injury, his teammate Shkodran Mustafi and fellow Egytians across the globe have shared their sympathy.
“May peace be upon you Elneny, I’m hopeful that it is simple @ElNennY,” Salah tweeted.
“May you be safe Elneny. God help us,” Hegazi tweeted.
“May peace be upon you, my brother. May God reassure us about you,” Gamal tweeted.
“May peace be upon you, my brother. God bless you and come back better than before @ElNennY,” Gaber tweeted.
“We have contact with Arsenal officials and so far, the position of the Elneny’s injury has not been determined negatively or positively… They’re going to do a little check later to get on the case. We only have to pray for him. @ElNennY Forza,” Egypt assistant coach, Mahmoud Fayez tweeted.
